Apple Festival Disbursements 2019 (using 2018 funds)

1) Thank A Salt Springer Awards ($1025 total)

  1. Two SSI Couples treated to a Farm Dinner. (fund raising dinner for Abattoir)
  2. Five SSI  people treated to a Farm Dinner (fund raising dinner for Salt Spring Ag Alliance)
  3. Two hard working Community Activists treated to a spa treatment.

2)  Random Acts of Kindness ($1590 to Date)

The Concept:  Random Acts of KINDNESS of $50 each by various persons anywhere in the world

  1. Three Random Acts of various amounts in Mexico and Bali.
  2. Over 200 Organic Chocolate Bars given out in the area.
  3. The remainder was Random Acts of Kindness in our local area.

3)  Support to Local Artists  ($2960 Total)

  1. $500 – Ali Harris Documentary of Bob Weeden
  2. $500 – Karen Selk.  To help with launch of Book on Old Silk Weaving Techniques.
  3. $400 – Cindy Jacobsen videos of Rick Neufeld concert
  4. $1000 towards a Native Elder Documentary by Briony Penn and Ali Harris.

4)  Poster Creation   ($1350 Total)

Note:  Apple Festival pays the Artist, then prints the poster.  All Poster Sales go directly to Charity.  In Diana’s case, SOLID

  1. $200 to  Societies des Marin in Honfleur, France.  Preserving Nautical History and Blessing of the Fleet.
  2. $140 to Temporate Orchard Conservancy in Portland, Oregon
  3. $405 to Raging Grannies for 3 Solar Ovens in Africa

6)  SOLID  ($960 Total to Date)

Salt Spring Organization for Life Improvement and Development) – to improve life in Lesotho, South Africa. (all poster sales goes directly to SOLID.).

  1. $360 (from poster sales)– to SOLID
  2. $600 (direct donation from Apple Festival) to SOLID.

7)  Local Community Efforts  ($4060 Total to Date)

  1. $1000 to  Kitchen Upgrade at Beaver Point Hall
  2. $1000 to Abattoir Fundraiser to purchase a Meat Saw
  3. $160 to Fulford Hall Christmas Dinner
  4. $1000 to  LITTLE RED for storm damage
  5. $500 Contribution to THE ROOTS
  6. $100 – Donation to Jill Tarswell (Grandmothers to Grandmothers SCRABBLE GAME.
  7. $100 –  To help Valdy with Winter Driving Challenges (buy Chains)
  8. $200 –  SS Comm Services for Food Bank

8)  Rex Welland Memorial Bursary   ($750 Total to Date)
