Mary Mollet Jan 1920 – April 2016
Mary Bennett was born on Salt Spring Island in January 1920. She and her three siblings, John, June and Evelyn, spent their lives on Salt Spring.
She married Leslie John Mollet in 1946 and they spent most of their married life on the Mollet farm in Fulford Harbour where they raised their four children. Mary spent a number of years leading the Brownie Pack, and it was then that she began a collection of apple recipes and sketches as a Brownie project. That eventually evolved into two apple cookbooks;
An Apple A Day, and An Apple A Day Volume 2.
Apples were always a big part of that life.
Her red blazer and big smile were a part of Apple Festival for many years. Mary died in April 2016 at the hearty age of 96. One of the things she left us was a shoebox full of recipes and apple pictures for Volume 3!
